Ø     Slough Heat and Power is an integral part of SEGRO, adding value in several ways.

The energy centre has, since construction in the 1920s, provided businesses on the Slough Trading Estate with secure, competitively priced energy and drinking water. Slough Heat and Power continues to the present day to have a significant role in attracting and retaining businesses.

With current world-wide energy market conditions, businesses are highly aware of the financial costs of energy. Slough Heat and Power’s best price guarantee is thus an important offering on the estate.

Security of supply is easily taken for granted and over-looked. Uninterrupted electricity supply can be critical for businesses, whether these are companies with manufacturing facilities or those with modern IT services. Slough Heat and Power provides unrivalled security of supply and can help companies avoid the capital cost of expensive - and largely idle - back-up plant.

Corporate social responsibility has come to the fore for businesses and we contribute in several, substantial ways.

Owing to advanced and responsible thinking on the part of Slough Heat and Power and SEGRO the energy centre was converted from coal to clean, local wood and recycled Fibre Fuel. These are renewable sources of energy and the energy centre thus makes sizeable savings of carbon emissions.

Moreover, we help the local economy by sourcing wood fuel from businesses, many of which are rural-based. Fibre Fuel Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Slough Heat and Power, provides an attractive alternative and environmentally acceptable outlet for their non-recyclable materials. These materials are turned into a valuable resource rather than being sent to landfill.

Most recently, we now operate three electric charged vans for our energy engineers working on the estate. These make a small but visible contribution to reduce traffic noise and pollution on the estate.

Slough Heat and Power is a pioneering renewable energy initiative, which demonstrates not only our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, but also our constant drive to provide best value to our customers through competitive pricing and security of supply.
